How to read Patreon without paying? ›

You can view Patreon posts that the creator has marked “public” by going to the creator's Patreon page. That will show you all the posts the creator has decided to release to people who aren't paying.

All fans can join for free if their creator has a free offering listed on their page. Some creators may only show their paid options prominently on their Patreon. You'll know a creator offers this option if you see a Join for free button on their page.

While that segment is the easiest to monetize, it also tends to be the smallest part of any creator's following. That limitation might be why the average Patreon creator only earns between $315 and $1575 per month.

Our average conversion, or the conversion that we see on average from off platform subscribers or people who are consuming your content regularly to actually becoming a Patreon member is anywhere between 0.005% and 2.5%.

Membership access relies on a successful payment. If your payment fails, you won't have membership access until the payment goes through.

To protect users from shocking or disturbing imagery, Patreon does not permit violent or graphic works, including the glorification of real-world violence or suffering.

Creators whose Patreon is for all audiences will have free and paid options shown to fans by default. When free and paid options are enabled, people will see the button to Join for free directly under your header, with your paid options listed below.

Who actually pays for Patreon? ›

The member pays their higher membership amount on the 1st of the month. Members who upgrade a monthly (non-charge upfront) membership immediately access the higher membership. There's no charge to upgrade, and the member pays their higher membership amount on the 1st of the month.

A lot of time goes into creating consistent income, and there are a lot of better ways to do it than with the membership. Obviously, if you already have a really large, or even if you have a small but very engaged following, then perhaps Patreon would be a quick success for you.

To cancel your Patreon membership on the mobile app, just follow these steps: Tap the Icon for Memberships at the top right of the home page. Find and Select your Membership. Tap your Current Membership, which is displayed below the creator's information.

When can I message a creator? You can privately message creators on Patreon if one of the two conditions is true: You have one processed payment with the creator through Patreon. You currently have an active membership with the creator on Patreon.
